Mini-soccer

Mini-soccer was launched by the FA to promote junior football throughout the UK. Lessons had been learned about the way in which young children were being exposed to competitive football at too early an age playing on full size pitches with full size balls. It was noted that this had a detrimental affect on the physical and mental well being of some of our brightest young talent.

The main thrust behind mini-soccer is to reduce the size of the pitch, goals and ball to an appropriate size for the children involved. The target age is 11 and under.

Our mini-soccer courses are run once a week with the intention of giving all children an opportunity to play the game regularly at the their own level. In this way the children naturally develop with the aid of on the spot coaching in real situations. We choose to reduce the emphasis on winning and urge the participants to try their best.

These are some of the highlights of the Master Soccer Mini-soccer courses:

  • Boys and Girls 5-15 are welcome to join.
  • Director of Coaching, Barry Proctor, BEd(Hons), FA Coach, Faculty Head of Physical Education, Joint Manager of Leamington FC.
  • Fully supervised coaching sessions by qualified and experienced FA coaches and/or Physical Educationalists in a safe and caring environment.
  • Course members will be placed in groups according to age and/or ability.
  • Parents are welcome to attend but are reminded that they should support all the children and not be unduly critical to any child.
